4、verydangerousforthestabilityofthepowersystem．Therefore，itisveryimportanttoconsidertheprotectionoperationduringtheanalysisandassessmentoftransientstability．Basedontheaboveissue，thisthesisdoessomeresearchabouttheassessmentofthetransientstabilityofpowersyste

5、mwiththeprotectionoperation．Andthecontentofthisthesisisasfollowing：Atfirst，anewmethodforidentifyingcriticalcutsetinpowersystemispresentedAtthepeakofpost—faultsystempotentialenergy,themostvulnerablelineisfoundwhoselinepotentialenergyismaximal．Andthebackupm

6、usterofvulnerablecutsetisformedincludingthemostvulnerableline．Thenthevulnerablecutests(keylines)isfoundwithsyntheticalindexmethod．Thetestresultshowsthenewmethodiseffectiveanddoesn’tneedtheartificialbackupmusterofthevulnerablecutest，comparingwiththeotherme

7、thods．Onthebasisofsearchingoutcriticalcutsetandthemostvulnerableline，anewalgorithmispresentedtocalculatethecriticalenergyoftransientstabilityassessmentofthepowersystemwithprotectionoperation．Thecriticalenergyisthesystemenergywhichjustmakesthepost—faulttra
