2、lbiotechnologyandrelateddisciplines.Similarly,alargenumberoftextbooksareavailabletodescribetheapplicationsofthesetechnologiesinindustry.However,therehasbeenagenerallackofappreciationofthesignificantdevelopmentsindownstreamprocessingandisolationtechnolog

3、y,theneedforwhichislargelydrivenbythestringentregulatoryrequirementsforpurityandqualityofinjectablebiopharmaceuticals.Thisisparticularlyreflectedbythegeneralabsenceofcoverageofthissubjectinmanybiotechnologyandrelatedcoursesineducationalinstitutions.Fora

4、considerablewhileIhavefeltthatthereisincreasingneedforanintroductorytexttovariousaspectsofdownstreamprocessing,particularlywithrespecttotheneedsofthebiopharmaceuticalandbiotechnologyindustry.Althoughtherearenumeroustextsthatcovervariousaspectsofproteinp

5、urificationtechniquesinisolation,thereisaneedforaworkthatcoversthebroadrangeofisolationtechnologyinanindustrialsetting.ItisanticipatedthatDownstreamProcessingofProteins:MethodsandProtocolswillplayasmallpartinfillingthisgapandthusproveausefulcontribution

6、tothefield.Itisalsodesignedtoencourageeducationalstrategiststobroadenthecoverageofthesetopicsinindustrialbiotechnologycoursesbyincludingaccountsofthisimportantandrapidlydevelopingelementoftheindustrialprocess.Thehopeisthatthiswillresultingraduateshaving

7、areasonableunderstandingofdownstreamprocessingprinciplesandtechniques,andthusbebetterpreparedtofulfilltheever-increasingdemandforcompetentisolationscientistsinindustries.Thisis,ofcourse,achievedwiththehelpofthededicatedcontributingauthorsofDownstreamPro
