3、ucturesrangingfrommolecularclustersto1Dand2Dlayeredcompounds.Nanotubesareobtainedviaaself-rollingprocesswhileamazingmorphologiessuchasnano-spheres,nano-flowersandevennano-urchinsareformedviatheself-assemblingofnano-particles.Thispaperprovidessomecorrelationbetweenthemolecular

4、structureofprecursorsinthesolutionandthenanostructureofthesolidphasesobtainedbyhydrothermaltreatment.Keywords:vanadiumoxide;nanostructure;aqueouschemistry1.IntroductionThepropertiesofsolidstatematerialsmainlydependontheirstructureandmorphology.Thereforenanostructuredmaterials

5、arebecomingverypopular.Theyofferagreatpotentialforimprovingpropertiesandfindapplicationsinmanyfieldssuchasmicroelectronics,batteries,sensingdevices,nanoprobesandevennanomedicine[1-4].Manynanostructuredmaterialshavebeendescribedduringthepastfewyears.Amongthemnanostructuredvana

6、diumoxideshavebeenextensivelystudiedsincethediscoveryofVOxnanotubesbyR.Nesperandhisgroup[5,6].Theyexhibitagreatvarietyofnanostructures,rangingfrom1Dto3D[7]andV2O5hasevenbeenchosenasamodelsystemforthedescriptionofnanostructuredmaterials.Vanadiumoxidesfindmajorapplicationsinthe

7、fieldoflithiumionbatteries[8-11].Oneofthemainpointsforarealdevelopmentofnanostructuredmaterialswouldbeabetterunderstandingoftheirformationinordertobeabletobuildtaylor-madenanostructures.TheusualsolidstatesynthesisofvanadiumpentoxideviathethermaldecompositionofammoniumMaterial
