3、viousparagraph.Thisdocumentillustrateshowoneofthesetechniques,geneticalgorithms,canbeappliedtothreedifferentproblemsintheareaofEnterpriseStrategy.Geneticalgorithmsareasolutiontechniquethatusesanelementofrandomnesstosearchvastspacesguidedonlybyafitnesscriterion.Individualsinapopulation(represent
4、ingpotentialsolutionstotheproblem)competeforsurvivalopportunitiesand,indoingso;produceimprovementsonafitnessfunctionthatcanbeassociatedwithalevelofoptimality.Theresearchpresentedhereinvestigatestheperformanceofageneticalgorithminthreedifferentareas:asolutionforinvestmentmanagement,anenhancedpro
5、ductionplanningmethod,amulti-stagepartialinspectionproblem.Thesethreeareaspresentedidealopportunitiesforthedevelopmentandtestingofageneticalgorithm.Inallofthem,nonlinearobjectivefunctionsandverylargefeasiblespaces,sometimesconstrainedinanonlinearmanner,madesolutionbytraditionalgradient-basedtec
6、hniquesimpracticalThereisalwaysuncertaintyininvestmentmanagement.Todecidewhichprojecttoinvest,andhowtodothat,underconditionsoflimitedresources,adaptivegeneticalgorithmismadeuseofsearchingeffectivelyandefficientlyforaglobaloptimalornearoptimalsolution.Theexperimenthasdemonstratedthatthesystemisb
