6、cenceintherespiratorytractandinlesswell-characterizedextra-pulmonarysitesisobserved,andimagingidentifiesinfectionsinanimalsthatwouldhaveotherwisebeenmissedbytraditionalmethods.Finally,thereportervirussignificantlyincreasesthespeedandsensitivityofvirolog

7、icalandserologicalassays.Thus,bioluminescentimagingofinfluenzainfectionsrapidlydeterminesintra-hostdissemination,inter-hosttransmissionandviralload,revealinginfectiondynamicsandpandemicpotentialofthevirus.Theseresultshaveimportantimplicationsforantivir
