3、oseofthetest-rigistoinvestigatetheperformanceofactivesus-pensionsystems,suchasActiveRollControl(ARC)orActiveDynamicControl(ADC)fromTRWAutomotiveInc.Thedesignisfocusedonachievingaflexibletest-rigcapa-bleofvariousexperimentalsetupswithmaximumpossibilitiesfordata

4、acquisition.Thetest-rigshouldalsobecompactandtransportable.Forthesafetyofthepassengersandtheavoidanceofdamagestothevehicle,theopera-tionandperformanceofthissystemhastobemonitoredtogetherwithafaultdetectionstrategy,bothforthecomponentsaswellasforthesystem.Late

5、lybyusingsignaland/ormodel-basedfaultdetectionthenumberofsensorsforthispurposehavebeenminimizedwhileatthesametimeanimprovedsystemmonitoringandfaultisolationhasbeenre-alized.Duetothehighsafetyrequirementsthisprocessmustberealizedinreal-time.Extensivesimulation

6、saswellasexperimentaltestsshouldberealizedinordertovalidatethesystemmodelandalsotodefinethenormalandabnormaloperationsofthesystem.Hardware-in-the-Loopmethodsallowthesystemtobetestedinasimulatedbutexper-imentalenvironment.Systemsorcomponents,whichareusuallyinin

7、teractionwithanenvironmentoranothersystemtobeexamined,canbereplacedbymodelscalculatedonareal-timeprocessor.Thiscontributestothegoalofachievingsuitablecontrolalgorithmand/orimprovedreliabilityunderrealoperationalconditions.Thebenefitsareadecreaseinthedevelopmen
