3、rterischaracterizedbycascadeconnectionofmultiplesingle-phaseH-bridge(orfullbridge)invertercells.CHBinvertercanmakeSESSflexibleincircuitdesign,reducedvoltagesteps,andlowerEMI.Thispaperpresentscircuitarchitecturedesign,modelingofCHBinverterbasedSESS,andcontrolstrategyfocusingon
4、powerandenergybalancecontrolamongSubmodules(SMs).ThesimulationresultsverifythattheCHBinverterbasedSESShaveagoodperformanceinbothfastpowerexchangeandSMenergybalance.IntroductionSuper-capacitorhasadvantagesofhighenergyefficiency(95-98%),highpowerdensity(300-1700W/kg)andlongcycl
5、elife(longerthan1000000dutycycles).Therefore,itisverysuitablefortheapplicationwithrequirementofshortdurationandlargepower,e,g,renewableenergyfirming[1]andbrakeenergyregeneration[2].However,manysuper-capacitorcellshavetobeconnectedinseriestoformonehighvoltagefirstsincethevolta
6、geofonesuper-capacitorcellislow,usuallylessthan5V.Thereisanenergymanagementsystem(EMS)insideeachmoduletobalancethecellvoltageandmanagekeyparametersincludingcellvoltage,temperature,andcharge/dischargecurrenttoguaranteesafeoperation.However,outputvoltageofsuchmoduleisstillveryl
7、ow,suchasBMOD0063P125madebyMaxwell,theratedvoltageis125V.Themaximumseriesvoltageisonly1500Veventhoughseveralmodulesareconnectedinseries[3].Thus,super-capacitorismoresuitableforlowvoltageapplicationindistributionnetwork,microgridetc[4].CHBinverterisverysuitableformediumorhigh-
