3、rcapital,PartialleastsquaresAbstractThepurposeofthisempiricalstudyistoinvestigatethethreeelementsofintellectualcapital,i.e.humancapital,structuralcapital,andcustomercapital,andtheirinter-relationshipswithintwoindustrysectorsinMalaysia.Thestudywasconductedusingapsychometri

4、callyvalidatedquestionnairewhichwasoriginallyadministeredinCanada.Themainconclusionsfromthisparticularstudyarethat:humancapitalisimportantregardlessofindustrytype;humancapitalhasagreaterinfluenceonhowabusinessshouldbestructuredinnon-serviceindustriescomparedtoserviceindus

5、tries;customercapitalhasasignificantinfluenceoverstructuralcapitalirrespectiveofindustry;andfinally,thedevelopmentofstructuralcapitalhasapositiverelationshipwithbusinessperformanceregardlessofindustry.Thefinalspecifiedmodelsinthisstudyshowarobustexplanationofbusinessperfo

6、rmancevariancewithintheMalaysiancontextwhichbodeswellforfutureresearchinalternativecontexts.IntroductionTheglobalcommunityisbeingprogressivelyshrunkbytechnology(Richardson,1991).ThetwomajorforcesthatMalaysianbusinessescurrentlyfaceincludetherapidrateoftechnologicalchangea

7、ndincreasingindustrialisation.Therateofchangeislikelytoaccelerateinthenearfutureledbydevelopmentsinthecountry'smultimediasupercorridor(MSC).TheMSClinksthepresentcapital,KualaLumpur,withitsnewKualaLumpurInternationalAirport(KLIA)some50kilometresaway.TheMSCisdestinedtobecom
