3、theneedsoftheirpeople.RecentlyeducationhasreceivedgreaterpriorityasPlannersandPolicymakersfinallyrecognizeditasakeyfactorindeterminingthepaceofdevelopment.WomeninIndiaconstitute50percentofthecountry’shumanresourcesandtheircontributionsarevitalforthenation’spr

4、ogress.Butthemagnitudeofilliteracyamongwomenisveryhigh.Only54.16percentofwomenareliteratesasper2001census.Eventhoughtheeducationsystemexpandedveryrapidly,thegendergapinliteracyremainsconspicuousbyitspresence.TheConstitutionofIndiaconfersonwomen,equalrightsand

5、opportunitiesinallfields.TheGovernmentofIndiahasendorsedthesamethroughitsPlans,PoliciesandProgrammes.Inspiteofallthese,womeninIndiahavenotbeenabletotakefulladvantageoftheirrightsandopportunitiesinpracticeforvariousreasons.Thereforeinthispaperanattempthasbeenm
