1、TheResearchProposalAnintegralpartofyourapplicationforanyofourresearchdegreesistheinitialresearchproposal.Itshouldoutlinethenatureofyourproposedstudyandgivesomeindicationofhowyouwillconductyourresearch.StudentsonPhD,DBA,MPhilandMScbyResearchdegreescompletetheirwor

2、kunderthepersonalsupervisionofamemberormembersofstaffintheBusinessSchool.Thesuccessthereforeofanyresearchdegreeislargelydependantontheworkingrelationshipbetweenthesupervisorandthestudent.Theselectionofcandidatesforourresearchdegreesprogrammeisbasedonthenatureofth

3、eresearchproposal,andwhetherornotweconsiderthattheresearchwouldbeofbenefittoboththecandidateandtothesupervisor(s).Yourresearchproposalisamajorvehicleforyoutocommunicatetousyourareaofresearchinterest,andthewayinwhichyouproposetocarryitout.Weexpectyoutobeabletodemo

4、nstratesomeunderstandingoftheexistingknowledgeinyourchosenarea,andtoshowhowyouplantocarry-outyourpieceofresearch.Theoutlineproposalisnotconsideredtobeafinal‘contract’.Thefieldandtheapproachtothestudymaywellchangeconsiderablyinnegotiationwithyoursupervisorifyouare

5、admittedtoaprogrammeofstudy.ThemainpurposeofthisproposalisfortheSchooltoidentifyapossiblesupervisor,andforyoutobeabletoindicatetotheSchoolthatyouhavetheideasandknowledgetobeginindependentresearchandthatyoucanexplainanddiscussyourideascoherently.Theseguidelineswil

6、lhelpyouproduceameaningfulresearchproposal.However,itmustbestressedthatfollowingtheseguidelinesdoesnotguaranteeanacceptanceontoanyoftheprogrammes.Acceptancedependsonseveralissues,includingthenatureoftheresearcharea,thequalityoftheideasthathavebeengenerated,andthe

7、effectivenessoftheproposalincommunicatingtheseideas.Althoughthereisnosetformatorprescribedlengthforaresearchproposal,thefollowingsectionsareconsideredandthereforeshouldbeaddressedinyourproposal:1.TheResearchTopicAnintroductorysection,inwhichyoudiscussthegeneralfi
