1、DOUALAPORT       I.           BriefHistoryThefirstfitting-outwasmadein1881bytheGermanfirmWOERMANLINIEfollowinganagreementwithDoualaKings.ItistobestressedthatEuropeanenterprisesweretradingfromvesselswithlandingstage(hulk)securedinthesea.Atthebeginning,theportisjust

2、asimpleopenshedarrangeinthedistrictofAkwa.Theconstructionofarealberthwithcementwasinitiatedaround19thcentenarybytheGermanundertheauthorityofGovernorJeskovonPuttkamer.TheGermangovernmentwasplanningtomakethisportoneofthemodernfromWestAfricancoastastheyhaveseenthatth

3、eabsenceofhermgaveitadeterminantadvantage.Itiswithintheport’sareathatfirstCameroonindustriestookoff.DuringtheCameroonindependence,theportistransferredtothenationalOfficeofCameroonPort(ONPC).TheDoualaportauthorityunderitsactuallegalformiscreatedin1999,bylawn°.98/02

4、1dated24/12/1998organizingthenationalportdomain.TheDoualaportAuthorityisissuedfromthescissionoftheNationalOfficeforCameroonPort(ONPC)inmuchentities.Autonomousportsinonehand,operatingCameroonports;andNationalPortAuthority(NPA)ontheotherhand,werecontrollingtheautono

5、mousports.     II.           CHARACTERISTICSThemainscharacteristicsofDoualaportareasfollows.Ø Morethan7.5millionsoftonsannualtrafficcapacityØ 26berthsover5.5kmnaughtØ Areaof400haØ 13specializedterminalsØ 15warehousesØ 65haofopenshedØ 25kmrailwaysØ 20kmoftarredroad

6、sTheDoualaportAuthorityisanenterpriseholderofthefirstportindutyinCameroon,theDoualaport.ThefirminaCameroonstateone.TheDoualaportissituatedattheWouriestuaryonthelittoralcoastgivingwaytotheAtlanticOcean.DoualaportisthefirstportofCEMAC.Itensuresabout95%ofnationalport
