2、tofvibrationsduetopassengerandfreighttrainsandsubwaysatrelativelylowspeed,thestudyofthevibrationalimpactofhighspeedtrainsisofhighinterest.InBelgium,forexample,newhighspeedtrainlinesconnectBrusselswithParisandLondon,whileextensionstoAmsterdamandColognearepresentlyunderconstruction.InChina,this

3、problemwillbecomeequallyimportantinthenearfuture,asahighspeedtrainconnectionisplannedbetweenBeijingandShanghai.Thepartnersinthisresearchprojectareinvolvedinthedevelopmentofnumericalmodelstopredicttrafficinducedvibrations.Thedevelopment,validationandpracticaluseofthesemodelsrelyoninsituvibrati

4、onmeasurements.Apreliminarymeasurementcampaignwasundertakenonahighspeedtrainbridge,withsensorsonthebridgeaswellasontherails,tobeabletogetmoreinsightinforcetransferfromtraintoconstruction.Keywords:highspeedtrain,dynamictesting,modalanalysisIntroductionTheconstructionunderconsiderationisarailwa

6、ridge.Thebridgetestsandsimulationscanbesituatedinabilateralresearchprogram(BIL98/09)betweentheBelgianuniversitiesK.U.LeuvenandV.U.Brussel,andtheNorthernJiaotongUniversity,Beijing,China.Aimoftheprogramistostudythetrain-structureinteractionandthevibrationsinducedintheenvironment.FiniteElementMo
