3、.Itisanextensionofbeingagoodneighbour,transformingacollectionofhousesintoacommunity,aspeoplebecomeinvolvedintheimprovementoftheirsurroundingsandchoosetohelpothers.Bycaringandcontributingtochange,volunteersdecreasesufferinganddisparity,whiletheygainskills,self-esteem,andchangetheirliv
4、es.Peopleworktoimprovethelivesoftheirneighboursand,inreturn,enhancetheirown.“Successinlifehasnothingtodowithwhatyougaininlifeoraccomplishforyourself.It'swhatyoudoforothers.”WhatisthedifferencebetweenVolunteerworkandunpaidwork?Volunteerserviceisofferedbychoice-itisnotmandatedorcoerced
5、.Itcontributestothewell-beingofanindividualorthecommunity,andisusuallycoordinatedbyanonprofitorpublicsectororganization,andpaysnosalaryorwages.OtherformsofunpaidworkincludeactivitiessuchasCommunityServiceOrdersandserviceplacementsrequiredbyschools.Althoughtheseoffersupporttothecommun
6、ity,theyhavebeenorderedbyanauthority.Volunteerworkisoftenequatedwithunpaidwork,andpeoplewhocontributetheirtimeandenergyfreelytobuildabettercommunitydon'tnecessarilygetthesupportsystemsandrecognitiontheydeserve.Thecommunityneedstoprotectandnurturethevolunteerethic.WhoVolunteer?Volunte
