3、tleisknownaboutthemechanismsbywhichagingcontributestoOAdevelopment.Inrecentyears,progresshasbeenmadeinunderstandingthemolecularmechanismsofchondrocyteagingandsenescence.Agingandsenescentchondrocytesdisplayasenescence-associatedsecretoryphenotype(SASP)associatedwithincreasedsecretionofpro-inflammato

4、rymediators,extracellularmatrixdegradingenzymesandoxidativestress,allofwhichcancontributetothedevelopmentandprogressionofOA.Thereisalsoevidencethatautophagy,anessentialhomeostaticprocess,declineswithagingandduringOA.Thisreviewwillfocusonourcurrentunderstandingofchondrocyteaging,senescence,andautoph
