3、lastdecade,atleast.Thereisawell-establishedlineofresearchthatintendstorevealthecrucialroleplayedbyintrinsi-callydisorderedproteins(IDPs)inthedevelopmentofhumandiseases.ThemainargumentisthatIDPsaredifferentiallymorepresentingroupsofdisease-relatedproteins.Inthisnotewec
4、omparethefrequencyofdisorderinhumanproteins,bothdisease-relatedandnot.Thefrequencyofdisorderiscomparableinthetwosub-groupsofproteins.Disorderiswidespreadinhumanproteins,butitisnotaspecificpre-requisiteofpro-teinsinvolvedinthedevelopmentofcancer,cardiovasculardiseases,d
5、iabetesandneurodegenerativediseases.Atendencyofcancer-relatedproteinstobestatisticallymoredisorderedthantherestofhumanproteinsisconfirmed.1INTRODUCTIONInthisnotewediscussthedifferentialoccurrenceofintrinsicallydisorderedproteins(IDPs)amongdisease-relatedproteinsinthehu
6、manproteome.Onthebasisofstraightforwardobservationsweraisesomecriticalremarksabouttheoftenclaimedstrictassociationbetweentheunfoldome(Uversky,2010)andthehumandisea-some(Gohetal.,2007).InthelastdecadeagrowingnumberofscientificpublicationshavebeendevotedtoIDPs;thesearepr
7、o-teinslackingawell-definedthree-dimensionaltertiarystructureinallorpartoftheirpolypeptidechainandexistingasanensembleofflexibleconformations.IthasbeenreportedthatIDPsfulfilimportantbiologicalfunc-tionsinthecellbeinginvolvedintargeting,signallingandregulationofthecellcyc
