3、dliberatoroftheold,astoryofaslave-holdingsocietythatbecameaservantoffreedom,thestoryofapowerthatwentintotheworldtoprotectbutnotpossess,todefendbutnottoconquer.itistheamericanstory.astoryofflawedandfalliblepeople,unitedacrossthegenerationsbygrandandenduringideals.thegrandestof
4、theseidealsisanunfoldingamericanpromisethateveryonebelongs,thateveryonedeservesachance,thatnoinsignificantpersonwaseverborn.americansarecalledupontoenactthispromiseinourlivesandinourlaws;andthoughournationhassometimeshalted,andsometimesdelayed,wemustfollownoothercourse. thro
