2、ructureisafundamentaltheoreticalconceptinchemistry.Asthemicrochangesareinvariablytrig-geredbyelectrontransfer,thecorrecttheoryatthemolecularlevelmustbequantummechanics.Itisthereforesurprisingthataquantumtheoryofmolecularstructurehasneverdeveloped.Thisfailurestemsfromthefactthatphys
3、icsandchemistryoperateatdifferentlevelsandthatgraftingthemodelsofphysicsontochemistryproducesanincompletepicture.Althoughthephysicsmodelmaygiveareasonablequalitativeaccountofchemicalconcepts,suchaschemicalcohesion,itfailsatthequantitativelevel,becauseessentialfactorsareignored.Themo
