2、pearedtograsphowthecapitalaccumulationprocesshasastrongeffect,oftennegative,onthecourseofasociety’sdevelopment.ThediscussionthenturnedtoSalvadorAllende’sChileoftheearly1970s,wherethegoalwastodevelopasocialistpoliticaleconomy.“Knowingwhatyoudoabouthowcapitalismfunctions,”thestudents
3、wereasked,“whatwouldasocialistsystemlooklike?”Theywereunusuallyquiet.Finally,oneofthemblurtedout:“Idon’tknowhowitcouldwork.Iguessthegovernmentwouldhavetokilleverybody.”Thequestionofhowasocialistsocietywouldoperateraisedahor-rible,dystopianimageinthisstudent’smind.Suchlibertarianfea
