3、rtingpointforgeneratingitsowndetailedStandardOperatingProcedure(SOP),eitherforitsowngeneraluseorforaspecificprojectapplication.Theperformancedataincludedinthismethodareforguidancepurposesonly,andarenotintendedtobeandmustnotbeusedasabsoluteQCacceptancecri
4、teriaforpurposesoflaboratoryaccreditation.1.0SCOPEANDAPPLICATION1.1Thismethodisaprocedureforextractingwaterinsolubleorslightlywatersolubleorganiccompoundsfromsoils,clays,sediments,sludges,andsolidwastes.Thismethodwasdevelopedandvalidatedoncommercially-av
5、ailablesolventextractionsystems.Itsprocedureusesmicrowaveenergytoproduceelevatedtemperatureandpressureconditions(i.e.,100-115ECand50-175psi)inaclosedvesselcontainingthesampleandorganicsolvent(s)toachieveanalyterecoveriesequivalenttothosefromSoxhletextrac
6、tion(Method3540),usinglesssolventandtakingsignificantlylesstimethantheSoxhletprocedure.Othersystemsandothertypesofvesselsmaybeused,providedthattheanalystdemonstratesappropriateperformanceforthespecificapplication.1.2Thismethodisapplicabletotheextractiono
7、fsemivolatileorganiccompounds,organophosphoruspesticides,organochlorinepesticides,chlorinatedherbicides,phenoxyacidherbicides,substitutedphenols,PCBs,andPCDDs/PCDFs,whichmaythenbeanalyzedbyavarietyofchromatographicprocedures.Thismethodmayalsobeapplicable
