4、ore,withabackgroundinSchumpeterianeconomicsandevolutionaryeconomicgeography,toanalysetheanatomyofthedramaticrestructuringprocessthathasbeentakingplaceinSwedensincethelate1970s,withaspecialfocusontherolesandgrowthpatternsofproducerservices.Wewilltherebyshowanewandmorecomple
5、tepictureofthetransformationprocessinSweden,includingalsoproducerservices.Suchanalysescouldbeperformedbymergingtheaggregatedtheoriesoftechnologyshiftsandlongwaveswiththenowemergingframeworkofevolutionaryeconomicgeography.Previously,wehaveanalysedthetransformationoftheSwedi
6、sheconomyfromalong-termmanufacturingperspective.ThispapermarksthefirststepinanintegrativeanalysisoftheSwedishtechnologyshiftthatstartedinthemid-1970s.Theanalysiscoversbothmanufacturingandservicesectors.Inourresearchefforts,welargelyagreewiththeargumentsmadebyWood(2005)onth
7、emeritsofa‘serviceinformed’approachtoeconomictransformationandgrowth.Thispaperwillshowwhysuchanapproachisincreasinglyrelevantinthewakeofthethirdindustrialrevolution.Historicaldataongrowthinproducerservicesisnoteasilyobtainable.Eveniftherolesofproducerserviceshavebeenmuchre
