3、llyshy,Ihadbeenreluctanttotakepartinanysuch activities.Encouragedbymyfriends,however,Imadea last-minutedecisiontogiveitatry.Inthecourseof preparationIsomehowrediscoveredmyself,atruerme. Ifoundthat,afterall,Ilikecommunicatingwithother people;thatexchangingviewscanbesomuchfun—a
4、ndsomuch rewarding,bothemotionallyandintellectually;thatpublic speakingismosteffectivewhenyouareleastguarded;and thatitisessentialtosuccessineverywalkoflife. Atamorepracticallevel,Irealizedknowingwhatyouare goingtosayandhowyouaregoingtosayitareequally important.Totaketheorig
5、inalideasoutofyourheadand transplantthem,sotospeak,tothatofothers,youneedto haveanorganizedmind.Thisabilityimproveswithtraining. Yetthereshouldnotbeanylossoradditionordistortionin theprocess.Thoseideasthatfinallyfindtheirwayinto anotherheadneedtoberecognizablyyours.Languageis
6、a meanstotransmitinformation,notameanstoobstruct communication.Itshouldbelucidtobepenetrating. InChina,certainpublicspeakingskillshavebeenunduly emphasized.Willitreallyhelp,wearecompelledtoask,to bangatthepodiumoryellatthetopofyourlungs,ifyou havecomewithapoorlyorganizedspee
