2、theTnternationalConventioiifortheSafetyofLifeatSea,1974,NOTINGFURTHERtheReportoftheMaritimeSafetyCommitteeonitsthirty-secondsessionconcerningamendmentstotheprovisionsoftheInternationalConventionfortheSafetyofLifeatSea,I960,HAVINGCONSIDEREDtheReportoftheMaritimeSafetyCommitteeonitsthirty-fou
3、rthsession,RESOLVES:(a)toadopttheRecommendationontheCarriageofMagneticCompassessetoutatAnnexItothisResolution;(b)toadopttheRecommendationonPerformanceStandardsforMagneticCompassessetoutatAnnexIItothisResolution;(c)torecommendthatMemberGovernmentsputintoeffecttheprovisionsofthisResolutionand
4、itsAnnexesandensurethatmagneticcompassesinstalledaftertheadoptionofthisResolutionconformtoperformancestandardsnotinferiortothoseshowninAnnexIItothisResolution,TXVTTESgovernmentstoproposeatanappropriatetimeanamendmenttoRegulation12,ChapterVoftheInternationalConventionfortheSafetyofLifeatSea,
5、1974,embodyingtheprovisionsofAnnexItothisResolution.ANNEXIRECOMMENDATIONONTHECARRIAGEOFMAGNETICCOMPASSESMemberGovernmentsarerecommendedtoensurethat:1.Allshipsarefittedwith:(a)astandardmagneticcompass,asdefinedinAnnexII,(b)asteeringmagneticcompass,asdefinedinAnnexII,unlesstheheadinginformati
6、onprovidedbythestandardcompass,requiredundersub-paragraph(a),ismadeavailableandclearlyreadablebythehelmsmanatthemainsteeringposition;(c)adequatemeansofcommunicationbetweenthestandardcompasspositionandthenormalnavigationcontrolpositiontothesatisfactio门oftheAdministratio门.2.Asparemagneticcomp
7、ass,interchangeablewiththestandardcompass,iscarried,unlessthesteeringcompassmentionedinsub-paragraph1(b)orgyro-compassisfitted.3.Eachmagneticcompassisproperlycompensatedanditstableorcurveofresidualdeviationsisavailableonboardinthevicinityofthecompassatal
