3、behaviourunobtrusivelyandfindingmeaningfulpatternsisbothdifficultandcomputationallytimeconsuming.Capturingaccurateuserpreferencesis,however,anessentialtaskiftheinformationsystemsoftomorrowaretoresponddynamicallytothechangingneedsoftheirusers.Thisthesisteststhehypothesisthatusi

4、nganontologytorepresentuserprofilesoffersadvantagesovertraditionalprofilerepresentationsinthecontextofrecommendersystems.Anovelontology-basedapproachtorecommendationisappliedtoarealworldproblemandempiricallyevaluated.Synergybetweenrecommendersystemsandontologiesisthenexploredt
