2、Corp.,IBMCorp.,LucentTechnologies,Molex,Inc.,OpticalCommunicationProducts,Inc.,Picolight,Inc.,StratosLightwave,TycoElectronicsI.PurposeoftheCooperationAgreement(Agreement)Eachpartydesirestoestablishinternationallycompatiblesourcesofapluggablefiberoptictransceivermoduleinsupportofstandardsforfiber
3、opticsystemsincludingAsynchronousTransferMode(ATM),FDDI,FibreChannel,FastEthernetandGigabitEthernet,andSynchronousOpticalNetwork(SONET)/SynchronousDigitalHierarchy(SDH)applications.EachpartyfurtherdesirestoestablishuniformityintheindustryfortheTransceiver“PackageDimensions”,“CageandElectricalConn
4、ectorSystem”,“HostBoardLayout”,“ElectricalInterfaces”,and“FrontPanelBezelRequirements”asdescribedinAppendicesA-B.Eachpartyexpectsthattheestablishmentofcompatiblesourcesforaninterchangeabletransceivermodulewillallowtheentirefiberopticmarketplacetogrowmorerapidly.Thisenhancedmarketplacegrowth,custo
5、merchoice,andvigorouscompetitionaretheexpresspurposesofthisAgreement.Eachpartyacknowledgesthisagreementprovidesasolutionwithheightasaprimarylimitingconstraintandmaynotprovideanoptimumsolutionforapplicationswithdifferentconstraints.Thepartiesdesiretoestablishcompatiblesourcesforadditionalproductsi
6、nthefuture.II.AgreementA.GeneralThepartiesagreetocooperatebysupportingcommonproductspecificationsforpluggablefiberoptictransceiverswiththepackage“PackageDimensions”,“CageandElectricalConnectorSystem”,“HostBoardLayout”,“ElectricalInterfaces”,and“FrontPanelBezelRequirements”asshowninAppendicesA-B.T
7、heoverallpackagedimensionsshallnotexceedthemaximumindicateddimensions,andthemountingfeaturesshallbelocatedsuchthattheproductsaremechanicallyinterchangeablewiththecageandconnectorsystem.Inadditiontheoveralldimensionsand
