3、cumbedtofelineinfectiousperitonitiswascharacterizedinvitro.Theviruswasdeterminedtobehighlycell-associatedwithCrandellfelinekidney(CrFK)cellsandwasroutinelyrn~~nedasapersistentinfection(CrFK83-4497).Thecheetahcoronaviruswascomparedwithothermembersofthefelinecorona

4、virusgroupincludingthefelineentericcoronavirus(FECV)79-1683andthefelineinfectiousperitonitisviruses(FIPV),79-1146,andUCD-1.Thecheetahcoronaviruswasdemonstratedtohavearestrictedhost-cellrangewithlimitedcytopathiceffect.IndirectimmunofluorescencewithantiseratoFIPVU

5、CD-1revealedtheconcentra-tionofviralantigensintheperinuclearregionofcellsinfectedwiththecheetahcoronavirus.Ultrastructuralstudiesofthecheetahcoronavirusindicatedalimitednumberofimmatureviralparticleswithincytoplasmicvesiclesandatthecellsurface.Thiswasincontrastto

6、electronmicroscopyresultsofFECV79-1683andFIPV79-1146,whichhadnumerousmaturevirusparticleswithinthecytoplasmicvesicles,aswellasatthecellsurface.Thecheetahcoronaviruswastentativelyplacedinthefelinecoronavirusfamilybaseduponitsantigenicreactivitybyimmunofluorescence
