3、ecoronaviruses,OC43(3),whichhasorganculture”grouporiginallyisolatedonlybeenadaptedtogrowintissueculture(7),inorganculturesandconsistingoftheB814hasbeenshowntohemagglutinateratredstrainofTyrrellandBynoe(2),sixstrainsbloodcellsdirectlywithoutchemicalactiva-isolatedattheNationalInstitutesofHealthti
4、on(21).Furthermore,BS-C-1,rhesusmon-(3-7),andstrainsLPandEVS(8-11)?andkeykidney,humanembryonickidney,andthe“229E-like”(12,1.3)grouporiginallyhumandiploidcellstrain(HDCS)W138isolatedinmonolayertissuecultures.ThemonolayerculturesinfectedwithOC43viruscoronavirusesaredistinguishedfromthewerefoundtoa
5、dsorbratredbloodcellsmyxovirusesbothbythestructureofthe(22)virionandthewayinwhichitisformed.TheThefindingsthatOC43-infectedcellshe-virionofacoronaviruscarriesonitssurfacemadsorb,isunexpected,since,ifthisvirusaseriesof200A“drumstick”projectionsdevelopsinthesamewayasIBVand2293whicharelarger,andmor
6、ewidelyspacedbybuddingintocytoplasmicvesicles,onethanthe70-100A“spikes”ofthemyxovi-wouldnotexpectthesurfafceoftheinfectedruses.Innegativelystainedpreparations,celltocontainhemagglutinin,whichwouldthesurfaceprojectionsofcoronavirusesre-enableredcellstoattach.sembleacoronet,orcrown,fromwhichtheThe
