4、d.Thisresearchfocusesonchangesofthecochlearmechanicsduetoacochlearimplantbycomparingthebasilarmembrane,BM,responsebeforeandaftertheimplantationusingacomputationalmodelofthecochlea.Inthemodel,cochleaimplantswereintroducedintothelowercochlearfluidchamb
5、erandtheactiveamplificationprocessofthecochlearisnotconsidered,sinceapassivecochlearmodelwhoseresponsedoesnotdependonstimuluslevelcanreasonablywellrepresentthecochleaforsubjectswithhearingimpairment.Theresultsforthebasilarmembranevelocityshowthatthev
6、olumechangeinthefluidchambersduetotheimplanthasalittleeffect,lessthan3dBatlowfrequencies,onthebasilarmembranevelocity.Amoreextremecondition,inwhichthecochlearimplantisassumedtotouchthebasilarmembraneatsomeorthewholepositionsandthusimpededitsmotion,wa
7、salsostudied.Althoughthereisnotravellingwavepropagatinginthebasalregioninthelattercase,theremainderofthecochleaisstillcoupledtothestapesbytheincompressiblefluid.Thebasilarmembranevelocityatlowfrequenciesisrelativelyunaffectedbytheblockingofthebasilar
