2、cstorm,onedeepderessionandonedepressionoverBayofBengal.Fourlanddepression(D)alsoformedduring2015.Consideringseason-wisedistribution,outof12disturbances,eightduringmonsoonandthreeduringpost-monsoonseason.Salientfeaturesofcyclonicdisturbancesduring2015aregivenbelow.i.T

3、herewasonecycloneovertheBayofBengalandthreeovertheArabianSeaagainstthelongperiodaverageof5peryearovertheentirenorthIndianOceanincludingaboutfouroverBayofBengalandoneoverArabianSea.ThusthecyclonicactivitywassubduedintheBayofBengalduringtheyear2015.However,thefrequency

4、ofveryseverecyclonicstormswasnearnormal(two)ii.Thoughtherewerefourcyclones,noneofthsecrossedIndiancoast.CSAshobaadissipatedoverSea,CSKomencrossedBangladeshcoastandChapala&MeghcrossedYemencoastiii.VelocityFlux,AccumulatedcycloneenergyandPowerDistributionIndexoftheperi

5、od2015are56.25,33.92and26.34againstlongperiodaveragebasedonthedataof1990-2013and21.17,13.09and9.67respectively.iv.Thetotaldurationofcyclonicdisturbancesduring2015was44.5daysagainstthelongperiodaverageof29.4daysbasedondataof1990-2013.Briefdescriptionsofthedisturbances

6、withintensitycyclonicstormandabovearegiveninthefollowingsections.(a)CyclonicStorm,‘ASHOBAA’overtheArabianSea(07-12June2015)TheCyclonicStorm‘ASHOBAA’(07-12June2015)developedovereastcentralArabianthSeafrommonsoononsetvortexinthemorningof5June2015.Itgraduallymovednorthw

7、ardsandbecamealowpressureareaoversoutheastandadjoiningeastcentralthArabianSeainthemorningof6June.ItconcentratedintoaDepression(D)inthethmorningofthe7JuneovereastcentralArabianSea.Movingnearlynorth-thnorthwestwardsanditintensifiedintoaDeepDepression(DD)intheearlyhours
