2、s,onlytheU.S.armycouldusethissystemofcommunication.Thenin1984,theU.S.NationalScienceFoundation(NSF)startedtheNSFNETnetwork.Itthenbecamepossibleforuniversitiestousethesystemaswell.NSFNETbecameknownastheInter-Network,or"Internet".TheWorldWideWeb(theweb)isacomputernetworkthatallowscomputeruse
3、rstoaccessinformationfrommillionsofwebsitesviatheInternet.Atthemoment,about80percentofwebtrafficisinEnglish,butthispercentageisgoingdown.By2020,muchwebtrafficcouldbeinChinese.TheWorldWideWebwasinventedin1991byanEnglishscientist,TimBerners-Lee.Berners-Leebuilthisfirstcomputerwhilehewasatuni
4、versityusinganoldtelevision!HecameupwiththeideaoftheWorldWideWebin1989whilehewasworkinginSwitzerland.Berners-LeemadeitpossibleforeveryonetousetheInternet,notjustuniversitiesandthearmy.Hedesignedthefirst"webbrowser",whichallowedcomputeruserstoaccessdocumentsfromothercomputers.Fromthatmoment
