2、hinaisoneofthetopfivewindpowermarketsintheworld.China’swindpowertechnologyhasbasicallymatured,butthemanufacturingcostofWTGsinChinaisexpectedtodrop,whilesomekeycomponentscontinuetobeimported.ThoughthepriceofforeignWTGsisover20%higherthanthatofChineseWTGs,foreignWTGscans
3、tillachieveahighermarketsharebecauseoftheiradvancedtechnology.WhentheChinesewindpowermanufacturersfacedatechnologicaldisadvantage,theglobalwindpowergiantsintroducedadvancedtechnologiesandmanufacturingexperiencesinChinatodevelopwindpowertechnologybyestablishingforeignco
4、mpaniesorenteringintojointventures.Forexample,theSpanishenterpriseGamesa,theworld’ssecondlargestwindpowermanufacturer,builtawindturbinemanufacturingbaseinTianjin,China.Thus,theglobalwindpowergiantsmaynotonlydecreasethemanufacturingandtransportationcostsbutalsomeetthelo
5、calproductionratesofwindpowerequipments,regulatedbytheNationalDevelopmentandReformCommissionofChina.ThissituationwillintensifythecompetitioninChina’swindpowermarket.Thestatisticaldataofwindpowerin2006(ShiPengfei,2007)showthefollowing:withregardtotheaccumulatedinstalled
6、windpowercapacity,theforeignandChineseenterprisesaccountfor65.8%and30.9%,respectively,whileforthenewlyinstalledwindpowercapacity,theyaccountfor55%and41.3%,respectively,andtheremainingshareisaccountedbyjoint1ventureenterprisesinChina.InadditiontotheChineseenterpriseGold
7、wind,themarketsharesofotherChineseenterprisesaresmallerthanthoseoftheforeignenterprisesinChina.However,thedevelopmenttrendindicatesthattheChineseenterprisesaredevelopingrapidly,andthemarketshareofthenewlyinstalledwindpowercapacityoftheChineseenterpriseshaskeptincreasin
