2、eanditsapplicabilityparametersremainthesameasbefore;thatis,thisisahandbook,whichfocusesonlyoncertainaspectsoftheAPAManual:itisnotasummaryandcannotberegardedasitssubstitute.ThisbookletisespeciallyusefulfortheM.Ed.CPswhoseassignmentsanddissertationsarerequiredtobeAPAconsistent.Hence,ithasbeenadap
3、tedaccordingtotheirneeds,whichiswhyitcoversandpresentscondensedformsofselectedareas:theselectioncriteriabeingtheareas’relevancetotheAKU-IED’swritingneeds1.Forthexample,theAPAManual(5edition)gives95examplesofreferenceswhereas42exampleshavebeenincludedinthishandbook.Apointtonotehereisthattheseref
4、erenceexamplesincludearevised“OnlineReferencesection”whichisthsubstantiallydifferentinformatfromthatgiveninthe4editionAPAManual.Thishandbookhasbeendividedintovarioussections.Exampleshavebeenincludedtoillustratepointsineverysegment.Inaddition,anefforthasbeenmadetoformatthishandbookintheAPAstyles
5、oastomakeitself-illustrative.Sincethisisaguideline,itdoesnotofferthekindofextensiveandcomprehensivecoverageprovidedbytheManualitself.Therefore,itisadvised,forthosewhoareinneedofmorecomprehensiveinformationthattheyconsultthethAmericanPsychologicalAssociationPublicationManual(APA),5edition,whichi
6、savailableinthelibrary.Everyefforthasbeenmadetomakethishandbookasuser-friendlyaspossible.ItcanbeusedbytheCPsoftheM.Ed.programmes,thefacultyrelatedtotheAKU-IEDM.Ed.programme,andothersinvolvedinacademicwriting.Itishopedthattheeffortprovesuseful.TheELSPTeamAzraAhmedFaizaSaleemFatimaShahabuddin1APA
