3、eptember2011Abstract:EfiectsofVC/CrC2onthemicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesofTifC,N1。basedcermetswerestudied.Themicrostructurewasinvestigatedbymeansofoptica1microscopy.X—raydiffractometryaswellasscanningelectronmicroscopyincombinationwitl1energydispe

4、rsivespectrometry.Mechanicalproperties.suchastransverserupturestrength.hardnessandfracturetoughness.weremeasured.Theresultsshowthatthereareblackcore-greyrimstructureandwhitecore-greyrimstructureinthemicrostructure.ThegrainsbecomefineduetotheVC/CrC,andthe

5、grainsofcermetaddedwith0.75VC/0.25CrC,arerefinedmostremarkably.TheblackcorebecomesfinerwiththeincreaseOfVCadditionandrimphasebecomesthickerwiththedecreaseOfCr3C2addition.Theporosityincreaseswiththeincrease0fVCadditioninVC/CrC2.Comparedwiththecermetfreeof

6、VC/CrC,,thetransverserupturestrengthandhardnessofcermetswithVC/Cr3C,arebothimproved.andthemaximumvaluesarebothfoundforthecermetwim0.25VC/0.75Cr3C,.ThefracturetoughnesscanbeeffectivelypromotedbyaddingVC/Cr1C,withanappropriateratioofVCtoCr3C,,andthemaximum
