2、ralizedReputationSystemshaverecentlyemergedasaprominentmethodofestablishingtrustamongself-interestedagentsinonlineenvironments.Akeyissueistheefficientaggregationofdatainthesystem;severalapproacheshavebeenproposed,buttheyareplaguedbymajorshortcomings.Weputforwardanovel,decen
3、tralizeddatamanage-mentschemegroundedingossip-basedalgorithms.Rumormongeringisknowntopossessalgorithmicadvantages,andindeed,ourframeworkinheritsmanyoftheirsalientfeatures:scalability,robustness,aglobalperspective,andsimplicity.Wedemonstratethatourschememotivatesagentstomai
4、ntainaveryhighreputation,byshowingthatthehigheranagentsreputationisabovethethresholdsetbyitspeers,themoretransactionsitwouldbeabletocompletewithinacertaintimeunit.Weanalyzetherelationbetweentheamountbywhichanagentsaveragereputationexceedsthethresholdandthetimerequiredtoclo
