3、perfor-mance.Wealsoarguethataccessingknowledgefromabroadrangeofexternalchannels,i.e.,opensearchbreadth,canenhancetheinnovatingfirm’sradicalinnovationperformance.Usinghierarchicalregressionstoanalyzesurveydatacollectedfrom184Taiwaneseelectronicproductmanufact
4、urers,wefoundthatopensearchdepthispositivelyrelatedtotheinnovatingfirm’sincrementalinnovationperformance,andthatopensearchbreadthispositivelyrelatedtoradicalinnovationperformance.Asourresultsdifferfromthoseofpreviousstudies,weprovideapossibleexplanationforth
5、ediscrepancy.Examiningtheeffectofopensearchstrategyfromatheoreticalanglenotyetexploredbefore,ourfindingscancontributetobothscholarlyandpractitionerknowledgeofopeninnovation.1.IntroductionOntheotherhand,‘knowledgeflow’referstotheexchangeoftechnologicalandmarke
6、tknowl-Innovationperformanceiscriticaltofirms’suc-edgewithinandacrossorganizationalboundariescessandsurvival(Gassmann,2006).Chesbrough(ArgoteandIngram,2000).Becausethisstudy(2003)arguesthattheinnovatingcompanyshouldinvestigatesopensearchstrategies,wediscussa
7、ctivelyaccessandintegrateexternalknowledgeonlytheinnovatingfirm’saccessingofknowledgewithitsowninnovationprocesstocreatevaluefromexternalchannels.Previousauthorshaveforcustomers.Chesbrough’sargumentstimulatedexploredtheeffectofopensearchstrategiesusingresear
