3、ferencesbetweenthetwosystemsisbasedontheperceptionoftheirenduseandfunctionality.Transmissionsystemsprovidethebulktransportpathsforelectricalenergyfromgenerationcentreslocatedclosetotheprimaryenergysourcestothemajorloadcentreswithinalargegeographicalarea,thusfacilitatingeconomicandeffi

4、cientbulkpowertransfer.Ontheotherhanddistributionsystemsareconcernedwiththedeliveryofelectricalenergytoindividualcustomerswithinasmallergeo-graphicalarea.Inthisrespectadistributionsystemmayhaveanumberofdeliverypointstoitsmajorloadcentres,fromoneormoretransmissionsystemsand/orelementso

5、fatransmissionsystem,thefinalshapeofthesystemstructurebeingdependentonthemagnitudeandthepatternofdemandwithinitsgeographicalarea.Itisalsousualfortransmissionsystemstobeinterconnectedtoenablesharedeconomicbenefitsandoperationalaccesstogeneratingcapacity.10Highvoltageengineeringandtesti
