4、atiguestrengthofthebasematerialandtoenvironmentalrequirements.Thehighefficiencyandfluoride-freehardchromiumelectroplatingisanimprovementtotheconventionalprocess,consideringchemicalandphysicalfinalproperties.Oneofthemostinteresting,environmentallysaferandcleaneralternativesforthereplacemen
5、tofhardchromeplatingistungstencarbidethermalspraycoating,appliedbythehighvelocityoxy-fuelHVOFprocess.TheaimofthisstudywastoanalysetheeffectsofthetungstenŽ.carbidethermalspraycoatingappliedbytheHPHVOFprocessandofthehighefficiencyandfluoride-freehardchromiumelectroplatinginthepresentpaper
6、calledaccelerated,incomparisontotheconventionalhardchromiumelectroplatingontheŽ.AISI4340highstrengthsteelbehaviourinfatigue,corrosion,andabrasiveweartests.TheresultsshowedthatthecoatingsweredamagingtotheAISI4340steelbehaviourwhensubmittedtofatiguetesting,withthetungstencarbidethermalsp
7、raycoatingsshowingthebetterperformance.Experimentaldatafromabrasiveweartestswereconclusive,indicatingbetterresultsfromtheWCcoating.Regardingcorrosionbysaltspraytest,bothcoatingswerecompletelycorrodedafter72hexposure.ScanningelectronmicroscopytechniqueSEMandopticalmicroscopywereusedto
