4、ydynamicsegmentoftheindustry.Itwasnotuntilhotelchains,suchasHolidayInn,Sheraton,Hilton,MarriottandHyatt,beganrecognizingtheimportanceofmeetings,conventionsandexpositionstotheireconomicwellbeingthathotelssolicitedgroupbusiness.Thesechainstookthepurelyfunctionalmeetingfacilitiesofthe1950sandbu
5、iltupontheconceptandworkedwiththemeetingplannersandassociationexecutivestodesignstateoftheartmeetingfacilitiesfashionedtopromotemeetings,conventionsandexpositions.Today,amajorsourceofrevenueforthetourismindustry3comesfromthemeeting,155PartIMeetingandConferenceManagementconventionandexhibitio
6、nsegmentoftheindustry.Ithasbecomeanexcitingandlucrativesegmentofthehospitalityindustry.Ameetingisaconference,workshop,seminarorothereventdesignedtobringpeopletogetherforthepurposeofexchanginginformation.Meetingsdonotincludeexhibits.Anexpositionis“aneventdesignedtobringtogetherpurveyorsofprod
