4、emptedtoforeseepossibleunderlyingprocesses,attributetheirinfluence,andisolatethedistributionofsourcesthatmightthreatgroundwaterquality.TainanCountywasemployedascasestudy,andthirty-fourmonitoringwellsweresampledforroutinelabanalysis.Labdataofgroundwaterqualityincludingp

5、H,EC,hardness,chloride,sulfate,ammonia,nitrate,Fe,Mn,As,Zn,TOCandTDSweresubjectedtofactorandclusteranalysis.Principalcomponentanalysis(PCA)wasutilizedtoreflectthosechemicaldatawiththegreatestcorrelation,whereasclusteranalysis(CA)wasusedtoevaluatethesimilaritiesofwaterq

6、ualityingroundwatersamples.ByutilizingPCA,theidentifiedfourmajorprincipalcomponents(PCs)representing78.8%ofcumulativevariancewereabletointerpretthemostinformationcontainedinthedata.PC1reflectsthedominanceofsalinization,whichwascharacterizedbytheelevatedconcentrationsof

7、EC,hardness,chlorideandsulfateingroundwater.PC2withthepositiveloadingsofTOCandpHbutnegativeloadingofnitrateisthoughttoberepresentativeoforganicpollutionwithintheaquifer.PC3isregardedasmineralizationfactoronthebasisoftheloadingsofmanganeseandzinc.PC4showsastrongmonotoni

8、crelationshipwithammoniaconcentrationinthegroundwaterrevealingthelinkagewithagriculturalactivity.CAresultsillustrated
