2、shmentof1:50,000scaledatabase,andtheconstructionofNetworkforNationalFundamentalGeographicInformationSystems.I.ORGANIZATIONSTRUCTURETheStateBureauofSurveyingandMappingofChina(SBSM)isanadministrativeagencyoftheChineseGovernmentforsurveyingandmapping,whichwasestablishedin1956.SBSMhastwomai
3、nfunctions:theorganizationandmanagementofthenationalbasicsurveyingandmappingwork;andtheoveralladministrationofthesurveyingandmappingprofession.IntherestructuringoftheChineseGovernmentin1998,SBSMremainsasoneofthestatebureaus,butmovedfromtheMinistryofConstructiontotheMinistryofLandandReso
4、urces.ThemaintasksforSBSMareasfollows:1.Drawingupadministrativelawsandregulationsinsurveyingandmapping,makingplansforthedevelopmentofthesurveyingandmappingcause,managementpoliciesandtechnicalstandardsforthesurveyingandmappingprofession,andsupervisingtheirimplementationaccordingto24law.O
5、rganizingandmanagingbasicsurveyingandmapping,internationalandadministrativeboundarysurveyingandmapping,cadastralsurveyingandmappingandothernational-levelorsignificantsurveyingandmappingprojects,scientificandtechnologicalprojectsinsurveyingandmapping.2.Workingoutmanagingproceduresforthev
