5、cterialpanicleblightofrice(BPBR),twonewlyincreasingoremergingdiseasesinChina,arebothpaniclediseasesinthelategrowthstageofrice．Thediseaseshavebecomemoreandmoreseriousinrecentyearsduetothechangesofclimate,cultivationsystem,nutrientandwatermanagementaswel
6、lasthesubstituteofricevarieties/combinations．TheRSRDandBPBRnotonlyaffectedriceyielddirectlybutalsodecreasedricequalityduetothecolourfulpathogensandpathogenictoxins．Thetoxinswerealsonoxioustotheanimalsandhumanbeings．Thetwodiseaseshavesimilaritiesinepide
7、micperiod,infectedpartsofriceandthedamagedegree．Theregularityofthediseases’occurrenceandepidemiology,thedamagestatus,theinvestigationofpathogens’biologicalcharacteristicsandtheirtoxins,thecontrolapproachesinpaddyfieldswerebrieflyreviewed．Wepointedoutth
