4、ofthispaper,theterms‘information,adviceandguidance’,‘careersservices’and‘careerseducation,information,adviceandguidance’areusedinterchangeably.(CEIAG)interventionsisopentointerpretation,bothintermsofparticipationandretentionineducation,training,employmentandother‘hard’outcomes.Asares
5、ult,itisdifficulttoquantifyin‘preciseterms’theimpactthattheseinterventionshaveonyoungpeople’sandadults’intermediateandlonger-termlearning,socialand/oreconomicoutcomes.However,thereisareasonablystrongcasetobemadethatCEIAGinterventionscananddomakeadifferenceintermsof‘soft’outcomessucha
6、sincreasedself-confidenceandenhanceddecision-makingskillsthatcanbeseenasprecursorsorproxyindicatorsthatmakeasignificantcontributiontolonger-termsocio-economicoutcomes(Hughes&Gration,2009).TheexistingevidenceDefinitionoCareersservicesprovisionencompassesarangeofactivitiesdesignedtohel
7、pindividualstomakeinformeddecisionsaboutlearningandlabourmarketopportunities.Careersprovisionisdeliveredthroughtheworldwidewebandbytelephoneandface-to-faceservices.Self-help,briefstaff-assistedand/orintensivesupportservicesforyoungpeopleandadultscurrentlyoperateinthefourhomecountries
