4、elopingcountries’growingexportcompetitiveness.Firstly,itisfoundthattheprocessingtradeplayedanimportantroleintherisingofChina’sexportcompetitiveness,especiallyinthehightechnologysectors.Thistypeoftradecanbedescribedasthatdevelopingcountriesimportthecriticalcomponentsofthemanu
5、facturingproducts,processandthenexportthefinalgoods.Secondly,thepaperconcludesinChinesemanufacturingsectorsingeneral,loweringtheunitlaborcostdidnothelpincreaseexportintensity,butpromotingforeigndirectinvestmentandfirm’scompetitionsignificantlyboostedtheexportgrowth.TheR&
6、DandinnovationeffortmadebyChinesemanufacturingfirmshadhardlytodowiththeirexportperformance.Thefixedassetinvestmentbythesefirmsdidnotcontributetotheexport,either.Thefirmslocatinginthecoastaleastregionachievedbetterexportperformance.Thirdly,asfarasChinesefirmsinlabor-intensive
7、sectorsareconcerned,theirexportdeterminantsarenotdifferentfromthoseofgeneralmanufacturingfirms,exceptthattheproductinnovationeffortcontributedsignificantlytotheirexportcompetitiveness.InregardtoChinesehightechnologymanufacturingfirms,thesameasthegeneralfirms,theirR&Dinve
