4、oserenalcelllines,namelyNRK-52EandLLC-PK1,asmodelsformidtolatestageapop-tosisunderstandardcellcultureconditions;thelattermeansthattestingwasperformedinthepresenceofserumintheculturemedia.Sevenknowninducersofapoptosisalreadypositivelytestedbyotherinvestigatorswe
5、rechosenastestsubstancesusingchromatincondensation(Hoechststaining)asendpoint.Thesesubstanceswerecadmiumchloride(CdCl2),dithiothreitol(DTT),sodiumchloride(NaCl),mercuricchloride(HgCl2),tributyltinoxide(TBT-O),tributyltinchloride(TBT-Cl)andstaurosporine.Fromthes
6、e,onlyTBT-O,TBT-Clandstaurosporineinducedmorphologicalfea-turestypicalofapoptosisinLLC-PK1cells.MorphologicallydiscernedapoptosiswasconfirmedbyDNAfragmenta-tion(DNAladderingassay)analysis.LLC-PK1cells,butnotNRK-52Ecells,wereshowntobesuitablemodelsofmidtolatesta
