3、gofthemodernworldintheareasofgeography,science,politics,religion,societyandart.LondonbecamenotonlythecapitalofEngland,butalsothemaincityoftheknownworld.AndEnglish,inthehandsofwriterslikeShakespeare,becamethemodernlanguagewecanrecognizetoday.Theinventionofprintingmeantthat

4、allkindsofwritingwereopentoanyonewhocouldread.Manynewformsofwritingweredeveloped.Butthemostimportantformofexpressionwastheatre.ThiswastheageofShakespeare,andtheGoldenAgeofEnglishDrama.  WecandistinguishthreeperiodsofliteratureofEnglishRenaissance.Thefirstperiodcoverstheen

5、dofthe15thandthefirsthalfofthe16thcenturies.InEnglandthefirstscholarsandhumanistsappeared,theystudiedandinvestigatedtheantiquephilosophy,literature.InOxfordandCambridgeUniversitiesthefirstgenerationsoftheEnglishhumanistsweretrained,thedevelopmentofthebookprintingwasofimpo

6、rtanceforhumanisticculture.InthisperiodtheEnglishhumanisticliteraturewasmainlyoftheoreticalcharacter.  Thesecondperiod,thesocalledElizabethanonecoversthesecondhalfoftheXVIcenturyandthebeginningoftheXYII.ItisthetimeofflourishingtheEnglishRenaissanceliterature,thetimeofcrea
