1、外文翻译FeministConsciousnessAftertheWomen’sMovementBarbaraEpsteinThereisnolongeranorganizedfeministmovementintheUnitedStatesthatinfluencesthelivesandactionsofmillionsofwomenandengagestheirpoliticalsupport.Therearemanyorganizations,rangingfromtheNationalOrganizationforWomentowom
2、en’scaucusesinlaborunionsandprofessionalgroups,whichfightforwomen’srights,andtherearemanymoreorganizations,manyofthemincludingmenaswellaswomen,whoseprioritiesincludewomen’sissues.Butthemasswomen’smovementofthelatesixties,seventies,andearlyeightiesnolongerexists.Few,amongthem
3、anywomenwhoregardthemselvesasfeminists,haveanythingtodowithfeministorganizationsotherthanreadingabouttheminthenewspapers.Youngwomenwhoaredrawntopoliticalactivismdonot,forthemostpart,joinwomen’sgroups.Theyaremuchmorelikelytojoinanticorporate,antiglobalization,orsocialjusticeg
4、roups.Theseyoungwomenarelikelytoregardthemselvesasfeminists,andinthegroupsthattheyjoinafeministperspectiveislikelytoaffectthewayinwhichissuesaredefinedandaddressed.Butthisisnotthesamethingasamassmovementofwomenforgenderequality.Asimilardynamichastakenplaceinothercirclesaswel
5、l.Therearenowverylargenumbersofwomenwhoidentifywithfeminism,or,iftheyarereluctanttoadoptthatlabel,neverthelessexpecttobetreatedastheequalsofmen.Andtherearelargenumbersofmenwhosupportthisview.Theextentoffeministorproto-feministconsciousness,bywhichImeananawarenessoftheinequal
6、ityofwomenandadeterminationtoresistit,thatnowexistsintheUnitedStates,isanaccomplishmentofthewomen’smovement.Butitisalsosomethingofananomaly,sinceitisnolongerlinkedtothemovementthatproducedit.Whenthefirstwaveofthewomen’smovementintheUnitedStateswentintodecline,afterwomansuffr
7、agewaswonin1921,feminismwentintodeclinewithit.Bythe1950s,feminismhadalmostentirelydisappeared,notonlyasanorganizedmovement,butalsoasanideologyandapoliticalandsocialsensibility.Evenintheearlysixties,intheNewLeft,todescribeoneselfasafeministwastoinviteraisedeyebrowsandprobably
