2、hodsAtotalof48oldsubjects(≥60yearsold)withoutrecentcardiovascularsymptoms(within6months)wererecruitedintothisstudy．AllsubjectsunderwentMRimagingforfemoralarteries，carotidarteriesandbrain．TwotrainedreviewersinterpretedtheMRimagesusing3DCASCADEsoftware

3、．Thewallthicknessandnormalizedwallindexoffemoralandcarotidarteriesandthevolumeofischemiclesionsinbasalgangliaareaweremeasured．Presenceorabsenceofcarotidplaqueandlipid—richnecroticcorewasassessed．Thecorrelationsbetweenfemoralarteryplaqueburdenandcarot

4、idplaquefeaturesandcerebralischemiclesionswereanalyzed．ResultsOf48recruitedsubjects．71．4％werefoundtohavelowerextremityatherosclerosis．TheprevalenceofatheroscleroticplaqueinCFA，pSFA，ACandPAwas45．8％，41．7％，37．5and50．0％，respectively．Amongfoursegmentsoffe

5、moralartery,theAC(55。2％)andPA(55．6％)segmentsshowedthehighestNWI．Forplaqueburdenmeasurementofmaximumwallthickness，asignificantcorrelationbetweencarotidarteryandCFAcanbeobserved(r=0．304，p=0．036)．Therewassignificantcorrelationofatherosclerosisbetweenfem

6、oralandcarotidarteries．ThepresenceofatheroscleroticplaqueinCFAwassignificantlyassociatedwithleftcarotidatherosclerosis(r=0．745，p<0．001)．Inaddition，presenceoflipid—richnecroticcoreinleftandrightcarotidarterywasfoundtObecorrelatedwithatherosclerosisinp

7、SFA(r=0．314，p=0．030)andPA(r=0．300，p=0．038)，respectively．Wefoundthefemoralarterymaximumwallthicknesswassignificantlyassociatedwiththevolumeofischemiclesionsinbasalgangliaarea(r=O．446，p=0．009)．ConclusionsLowerextremityatheroscleroticdiseaseisprevalenti
