3、hDurationSeptember,2015—June,2018June2018ABSTRACTInMandarinChinese,fǎnzhèng(反正)isoneofthemostcommonadverbswhichparticipantsutilizeintheirconversations.Fewresearchershaveanalyzedfǎnzhèngindailyinteractionsandnoresearchhasbeenundertakenfromtheperspecti

4、veofconversationanalysisyet.Themostcommoncircumstancewherefǎnzhèngisusedisordinaryinteractions.Therefore,itisessentialtostudyfǎnzhèngindailyconversations.Asaresearchmethodology,conversationanalysisexplorestheorganizationandorderlinessofthesocialinter

5、actionoftherealworldbyexaminingdetailsintalk-in-interaction.ThisthesisaimstofindoutwhereandhowfǎnzhèngisdeployedinMandarinChineseconversationsfromtheangleofconversationanalysis.Ourresearchalsowantstoprovideanewperspectivetostudyfǎnzhèng.Thedatacollec

6、tedforthisresearchallcomefromtheaudiorecordingsofnaturallyoccurringeverydaydyadicconversationsinMandarinChinese.Thisthesisincludestwomajorparts.Thefirstpartisaboutthesequentialpositionoffǎnzhèng.Weanalyzetheplacementoffǎnzhèngintheoverallsequentialor

7、ganizationandtheplacementwithintheturnconstitutionalunitwherefǎnzhèngoccurs.Thedatamanifeststhatfǎnzhèngismainlypositionedintwoways,self-generatedandinteractionally-generated.FǎnzhèngshowstheflexibilityofitsplacementwithintheTCU.Thesecondpartisaboutt

8、hecommunicativefunctionoffǎnzhèng,andthispartisintegratedwiththeanalysisofthesequentialpositionsoffǎnzhèng.Inthepresentstudy,itisfoundandprovedthatfǎnzhèngisutilizedtoserveasa‘myside’perspectivedisplaytoken.Inthisresearch,weclassifythiscommunicativef
