3、8].ATMfromananalogNTSCtelevisionsourceandtransmitshasmanypropertieswhichmakeitwellsuitedtoittodeviceswithinthesystem.Devicescontrolthethetransportofreal-time(audioandvideo)informa-VidboardthroughasetofATMprotocols.Whereastion[1].Inturn,manyresearchgroupsaredesigningcaptureboard

4、stypicallygeneratevideostreamshavingdistributedmultimediasystemscenteredaroundATMfixedframeratecharacteristics,theVidboardiscapa-networks[12,6,4].bleofdecouplingvideofromthereal-timeconstraintsWiththeuseofATM,anewclassofdevicesispos-ofthetelevisionworld.Thisallowseasierintegrati

5、onsibleinwhichdevicesactassharednetworkresourcesofvideointothesoftwareenvironmentofcomputersys-andcommunicatewitheachotherthroughATM-basedtems.TheVidboardisbasedonafront-endframe-protocols.Intermsofmultimedia,examplesofsuchde-memoryprocessorarchitecturethatisalsocapableofvicesa

6、revideoandaudiocaptureboards,framestoresgeneratingfull-motionvideostreamshavingarangeandvideoservers.ofpresentation(picturesize,colorspace)andnetwork(traffic,pixelpacking)characteristics.Aseriesofex-ThispaperdescribesanATMnetwork-basedvideoperimentsarepresentedinwhichvideoistrans
