4、ondate:20.April,2007AbstractValidationplaysanimportantroleinthedesignprocessofembeddedsystems.Itistheonlywaytorelatetherequirementsandspecificationofadesigntothereal,finalsystem.Itisfurtherameantoobtainobjectivequalitymetricsaboutasysteminitstargetenvironment,a

5、ndtogainconfidenceinthesystemsquality.Thevalidationofembeddedsystemsischallenging.Forcomplexindustrialproducts,about50percentofthecompletedesigntimeisspentonvalidation.Thevalidationofdistributedembeddedsystemsisevenmorecomplexsincethesesystemsintroducenewchall

6、engessuchas(i)unreliablewirelesscommunication,(ii)thedistributednatureofthesystem,(iii)limitedresources,and(iv)limitedinfrastructureforinspectingthesystem.Inthisthesiswecontributetowardsanincreasedqualityofthedesignofdistributedembeddedsystems.Ourresearchonva

7、lidationstrate-giesaddressesthechallengingproblemsthatarisefromthepeculiari-tiesofdistributedembeddedsystemssuchaswirelesssensornetworks,reconfigurable-,andwearablecomputers.Thespecificcontributionsarepresentedanddiscussedfordifferentphasesandlevelsofabstraction

8、inthedesignanddevelopmentprocess:•Anestimation-basedvalidationstrategyispresentedforwearablesystemsconsistingofdistributedmoduleswithcomputing-andcommunicationdevices.•Weproposethevirtual
