2、n1981,itwasinthefirstbatchofdisciplinestostartconferringM.S.andPh.D・degreesinStructuralEngineering,includingbridgeandtunnelengineering,andin1986,itwasinthefirstbatchtosetuppostdoctorateprogramandbeawardedthenationalkeydiscipline.ThefirstBridgeEngineeringDepartmentinChinawasestablishedatTongjiUniver

3、sityin1987,andindependentBridgeandTunnelEngineeringgraduateprogramsweresetupforM.S・degreein1988,andforPh.D.degreeandpostdoctorateprogramin1990.In1998,theBridgeandTunnelEngineeringdisciplineinTongjiUniversitybecameoneofthefirstfewdisciplinestoopenfiill-professorshippositionsundertheChangjiangScholar

4、AwardProgramoftheMinistryofEducation(MOE),andwasnamedasthekeydisciplineforthenational211Project.ItwasselectedastheMainKeyDisciplineofShanghaiin2000,andastheNationalKeyDisciplinefrom2001until2007.TheBridgeandTunnelEngineeringdisciplinenowhas24fullprofessors(including19Ph.Dstudentsupervisors),19assoc

5、iateprofessors,31lecturers,2academiciansintheChineseAcademyofEngineering,1MOEChangjiangScholarAwardfullprofessor,and1MOENewCenturyTalent.Thebaseforteachingandresearcharethreebuildings,eachfortheBridgeEngineering,theWindEngineeringandtheTJ-1Wind-Tunnel,withtotalstructuralareasof9,000squaremeters.The
